SHIPS PASSENGER LISTS TO CANADA
Ship Star from Cork Ireland to QuebecMedical and surgical journal of the Star transport ship for 6 April to 13 July 1825 by Ninian McMorris, Surgeon and Superintendent, during which time the said ship was employed in conveying emigrants to Quebec.This journal is detailed notes on each of the Irish passengers Surgeon McMorris treated. See below for the names, ages, dates of admission, whether the patient died or recovered and a few notes for some patients. Most patients have their illnesses noted in detail, along with medicines given, reaction of patient and other data. Surname; First Name; Age; Admission Date; Discharged or Died; Surgeon's Notes Johanna Ahern, aged 22, pregnant. Put on sick list, 15 May 1825, at sea. Discharged cured, 24 May 1825. John Buckley, aged 50. Put on sick list, 7 May 1825, at Cove of Cork. Discharged cured, 7 May 1825. John Curtin, aged 32. Put on sick list, 10 May 1825, at Cove of Cork. Discharged cured, 23 June 1825. He got very wet on his way to join the ship and slept in his wet clothes, which brought on lumbago. Thomas Curtin, aged 15. Put on sick list, 21 May 1825, at sea. Discharged cured, 26 June 1825. Catherine Daly, aged 14. Put on sick list, 20 May 1825, at sea. Discharged cured, 11 June 1825. Johanna Daly, aged 8. Put on sick list, 22 May 1825, at sea. Discharged cured, 7 June 1825. Mrs Daly, aged 36 very sea sick. Put on sick list, 15 May 1825, at sea. Discharged cured, 25 May 1825. Mrs Finnegan, aged 30 very sea sick. Put on sick list, 27 May 1825, at sea. Discharged cured, 7 June 1825. [Died] Honora Finnegan, aged 6 months. Put on sick list, 16 June 1825, at sea. Died, 24 June 1825. Her mother had been ill and could not wean her as she would not feed. [Died] Thomas Fitzgerald, aged 2 months. Put on sick list, 7 May 1825. Died, 10 May 1825. A two month old child that had been born prematurely and was taken ill on the way to join the ship at Cove of Cork. Catherine Foley, aged 30, debilitated. Put on sick list, 15 May 1825, at sea. Discharged cured, 24 May 1825. [Died] John Foley, aged 18 months. Put on sick list, 31 May 1825, at sea. Died, 26 June 1825. Had almost recovered when they arrived at LaChine but the motion of a cart form Montreal to LaChine and then the crowding in the steam boat affected him badly. Johanna Hickey, aged 32. Put on sick list, 30 May 1825, at sea. Delivered to Mr Reade at Prescott, 13 July 1825. Denis Linehan, aged 17, cut his head in two places and contused his left leg, by a fall down the fore hatchway. Put on sick list, 6 May 1825, at Cove of Cork. Discharged cured, 15 May 1825. Martha McCarroll, aged 16. Put on sick list, 8 May 1825, at Cove of Cork. Discharged cured, 23 May 1825. James McCarroll, aged 24. Put on sick list, 5 June 1825, at the Banks of Newfoundland. Discharged cured, 26 June 1825. Michael Mullane, aged 43. Put on sick list, 23 May 1825, at sea. Discharged cured, 28 May 1825. [Died] Ellen Shehan, aged 3 months. Put on sick list, 13 May. Died, 15 May 1825. Caught a very severe cold on her way to join the ship. Adam Shouldess, aged 1 year. Put on sick list, 18 May 1825, at sea. Discharged cured, 8 June 1825. He had been very subject to coughs and colds since born and got very wet on the way to join the ship. Amos Swytzer, aged 1 year. Put on sick list, 29 June 1825, at La Chine. Left with Mr Reade [a doctor] at Prescott, 13 July 1825.
